Friday, October 1

Happy Friday and welcome to Midday Joy!

-Nothing says "Casual Friday" like a pair of Redskins (or insert favorite team) jeans and flip flops. Decide for yourself what you think of this trend to cater NFL products to the ladies.

-Have 10 minutes? Read this book. It will remind you that you are special to the only One who really counts! (Oh, and if you have kids, make it look like you got it for them!)

*October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we're celebrating by inviting you to nominate a pastor on our Facebook page by posting (50 words or less) what you think is great about your pastor. We'll tally the entries at the end of the month and then select 3 pastors to receive a special Appreciation Prize Package!

Looking for peace in pain?

On today's show, I shared about a man who, burnt out on the religion he saw growing up, decided physical pain would become his religion.

Want to pray for him? Check out his story here.

Monday, September 27

Welcome to a new week and the Monday edition of Midday Joy!

It's not too soon to start thinking about Christmas shopping (can you believe it?), so here's a "heads up" for you:

Zhu Zhu Pets (average price, $10) are pegged to be the hottest toy this Christmas. (A far cry from items like Guitar Hero and the Nintendo DS that have broken the budget the last few years.) For a list of other hot (and frugal) toys this year, check
this out.

Speaking of shopping....

So you bought new jeans during the Tax Free Holiday and have worn them nonstop for the past 2 weeks for fear they’ll fade? Here’s the trick: Try soaking them in a 50-50 solution of cold water and white vinegar for an hour before their first washing, when the dye is most likely to run. Then, machine wash in cold water and hang dry. The vinegar will help set the dye so your jeans’ color stays put. (If only that worked for hair color!)

"See You at the Pole" is celebrating its 20th year of students praying around the flagpoles before school!
“Reveal” (Matthew 6:9-13) is the theme for See You at the Pole 2010, the annual Global Day of Student Prayer.

SYATP brings students to their school flagpoles to intercede for their leaders, schools, and families, asking God to bring moral and spiritual awakening to their campuses and countries. For more information on See You at the Pole, go to www.syatp.com.

If your kids are participating, be sure to come back and share their experience with us!
